eID Rebates (NSW)

Point of Sale eID Tag Discount Program
As part of the implementation of a national electronic identification (eID) traceability system for sheep and farmed goats, New South Wales primary producers can now receive a point of sale eID tag discount.

The new program will provide a discount of $0.76 each for 2025 NLIS-accredited white eID devices when purchased from a retailer or manufacturer between 1 November 2024 to 31 October 2025 (or until funds are exhausted). This includes eID tags and leg bands.

All NSW sheep and goat processors began scanning eIDs on July 1, 2024, with NSW Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) staff working closely with them to resolve any technical issues.

Saleyards across the state are having their infrastructure installed ahead of the 1 January 2025 implementation date. So don’t be surprised at your next sale if there is eID scanning capacity at your local saleyard.

Eligible eID devices will have the discount applied at point of sale. This means when you go online the price of the devices that are eligible under the program will already be 76c less than the original retail price.

  • Primary producers and stock and station agents in NSW have until March 31, 2024, or until program funding is exhausted, to submit their rebate applications.
